This class was packed with useful knowledge while still being clear and concise. It uses a very practically sized example structure and covers the entire process. Well worth the money and time. Very well done for an online version of such a hands on subject.

instruction is great. I also like to see people in action. I am on my first viewing. I plan on watching all the videos again after I have cut some of the beams.

My favorite part of the course is that I was able to learn how to use hand tools. As a mom of two small kids, the last thing I want is to do is cut off an appendage trying to use a power tool to complete a simple task. Pat was very informative about the power of power tools and gave great advice. However, the most amazing part for me was that I was able to learn how to use hand tools like the Japanese handsaw, slick, and a chisel. Knowing how to properly and safely use a hand tool is an incredibly useful skill. If you are able to build a timber frame home with these tools imagine what else you could build! Pat said something that stopped me in my tracks and I watched over and over to write his quote, heed his wisdom it will bring life. "If everyone knows it's possible right in the middle when it is the scariest they won't quit, they will just keep right on going." -Pat Hennin Here Pat was talking about raising the frame and explained the weight each person would be expected to carry if everyone knew the requirements failure was not an option because they all believed it was possible even when it was scary. Highly recommend the course! Thank you to the entire Shelter Institute for all the dedication and attention to detail to create such a well-planned online course for timber framing.

Enclosing a timber frame always seemed extremely overwhelming to me. After watching this course, I feel much more comfortable and equipped to tackle this challenge. Thank you Shelter!
